MOSCOW, 25 Dec. The mayor of Petrozavodsk Galina Shirshina, which the Petrozavodsk city Council of deputies dismissed, will remain in office until 29 December; on Tuesday’s session the deputies will elect the interim mayor, said the representative of city Council Marina Kabatak.
On Friday, members of the city Council dismissed the mayor Galina Shirshina “for failure to perform their duties.” Voted “for” the” 23 deputies, against — three. Only 30 in the city Council of deputies. The Governor of Karelia supported resignation of the mayor.
“The Deputy mayor of Petrozavodsk Eugene Sukhorukov that the procedure was to perform the duties of the mayor after the signing of the resignation of Chisinau, yesterday wrote a letter of resignation. Therefore, before signing the resignation, and they must be signed within five days, acting head of the city remains Shirshina. Earlier it was reported that according to the regulations Sukhorukov will take the post temporarily fulfilling duties of the mayor in case of resignation of the acting head of the city. However earlier Sukhorukov was recognized by the city court of Petrozavodsk guilty of fraud by land. She filed an appeal in the Supreme court of Karelia, and on Monday, December 28, will be the consideration of this appeal. If the Supreme court of Karelia will leave the decision of the city court in force, it shall not be entitled to hold office.
The head of Petrozavodsk Galina Shirshina stated that it did not agree with the claims of deputies and it intends to challenge the decision in court. Shirshina won elections of the head of Petrozavodsk in 2013 with the support of the party “Yabloko”.
Galina Shirshina was born in 1979 in the village of locomotive Alakurtti the Murmansk region. In Petrozavodsk lives since 1984. Since 2001, he taught psychology at the Karelian state pedagogical Academy (khpa), and chaired the Department of educational psychology. In 2013 he resigned from cgpa and headed the publishing house “Province”. The duties of the head of Petrozavodsk urban district began in September 2013.
