MOSCOW, December 27. The citizen of Russia Alexey Burkov detained in Israel on charges of US authorities of hacking into computer networks. About it the correspondent of TASS said Sunday the head of the consular Department of the Russian Embassy in Israel Ruslan Kandaurov.

“Maybe one of the charges relates to the hacking of computer networks,” he said. According to Kandaurova, Burkov is a Russian citizen born in 1990 – was detained at departure from Israel on 13 December at the request of U.S. authorities. “It is not through Interpol, we requested and still no official information from Interpol, this is at the request of the Americans, the civil authorities,” the Russian diplomat said.

As reported by informed sources in the legal system of Israel, Burkov incriminated crimes in cyber security, allegedly committed in the sphere of protection of banking data. According to the source, which began on Sunday the trial in the magistrate court of Jerusalem can drag on for months, and taking into account possible appeals to higher courts that can take over a year. At least until January 21 Burkov will remain in custody, the source added. Sunday in the magistrates ‘ court, which is located in one of the buildings, formerly belonging to the Russian ecclesiastical mission in Jerusalem, held its first meeting on this case.
