The Olympics 2020 will bring the Japanese economy $250 billion


Moscow. December 28. Summer Olympic games in 2020 in Tokyo, will bring the economy up to an additional 30 trillion yen ($249 billion) in the next five years, informs Agency Bloomberg referring to the report of the Bank of Japan.

According to the Central Bank, investment in the construction of infrastructure and the influx of tourists will add 0.2 to 0.3 percentage points to Japan’s GDP in 2014-2020. In 2017-2018 the increase will be even greater – of the order of 0.6 p. p. “and it will reduce the negative effect of the planned increase of sales tax”, the Bank said.

“This is an adequate forecast, the economist says SMBC Securities coyah, Miyamae. – Without doubt, the Olympics will be a plus for Japan, as they spur demand”.

Evaluation of the Japanese broadcasting Corporation NHK, the Olympic games in Japan will cost nearly $15 billion, i.e. six times more than expected by the initial budget. For comparison: the budget of the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, which will be held in 2016, amounted to just over $3.5 billion, and London has spent on the competition in 2012, $13 billion.

Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014 has cost Russia $51 billion.

Previously, Japan has three times hosted the Olympics in 1964, Tokyo became the capital of summer games, winter was held in Sapporo in 1972 and Nagano in 1998.
