Gas in the US rose to a peak in the month in anticipation of cold weather


Moscow. December 29. The price of natural gas at auction in new York on Tuesday rose to its highest level in more than a month on forecasts cold weather in the country, reports Bloomberg.

The January futures increased in price to $2,254 per 1 million British thermal units (BTU) on the new York Mercantile exchange (NYMEX). In the course of trading, the quote had risen to $2,266, its highest since November 27. The more actively traded February contract rose in price by 1.5%, to $2,29 per 1 million BTU.

According to the forecasts of meteorological services of the USA, on the continental part of the country will experience temperatures below normal in the period from 3 to 7 January, at the end of the year in the North-East of the country possible blizzards and icy conditions.

Despite the very warm beginning of winter quotes 17 December gas fell to the lowest level in 16 years.
