The plan provides for the monitoring of origin of biological water resources and the strengthening of administrative and criminal sanctions against violators of the law.
MOSCOW, 29 Dec. Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree, which approves the national plan of action to prevent, deter and eliminate illegal fishing.
The document is published on the website of the Cabinet on Tuesday.
“The plan envisages including strengthening control over the turnover of catches of aquatic biological resources, the establishment of a system of tracking the origin of biological water resources at all stages of their displacement, the introduction of electronic log books and e-signatures for fishing vessel captains,” — said in reference to the document.
The plan also provides for the development of international cooperation in the field of combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, the strengthening of administrative and criminal sanctions against violators of the legislation on fishery and preservation of water biological resources, of operational-preventive measures on revealing and suppression of illegal production of biological water resources.
Signed by order approved the list of measures to implement the plan, identifies the timing of their execution and responsible for the implementation of the Federal bodies of Executive power.
The plan was prepared in accordance with the state program “development of the fisheries sector”, approved in March 2013.
