The Prosecutor’s office will assess the decision of the Petrozavodsk city Council about the resignation of the mayor


PETROZAVODSK, December 29. /Corr. Igor Lukyanov/. The Prosecutor’s office will assess the decision of the Petrozavodsk city Council the resignation of mayor Galina Chisinau. On Tuesday told journalists the Karelia Prosecutor Karen Gabrielyan.

“Naturally, the decision will assess compliance on a “legally – illegally”. That the Prosecutor should (make – approx.)”, he said.

Deputies of the city Council of Petrozavodsk on December 25 sent the mayor Galina Shirshina to resign for dereliction of duties within three and more months. Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen has expressed consent. Shirshina intends to challenge the decision of deputies in court.

As reported in the press service of the city Council of Petrozavodsk, today at the extraordinary session the deputies will consider the question “On appointment of the temporarily acting head of Petrozavodsk urban district”.

The independent candidate Galina Shirshina was elected mayor of Petrozavodsk, September 8, 2013 for 5 years with the support of the regional branch of the party “Yabloko”. She scored 41.9 per cent of the votes ahead of former mayor Nikolay Levin (“United Russia”).
