MOSCOW, December 29. NATO continues to pose a threat to the national security of Russia. This is stated in the message of the Russian foreign Ministry about the results of the outgoing year.

“Taken by NATO the policy of “containment” of Russia, embodied in the increase of its military presence in Eastern Europe and the Baltic States, the increase in the number and intensity of exercises near the Russian borders, were forced to take measures to counter the threat that NATO poses to the national security of Russia”, – said in depodesta.

“Continuing the channels of political dialogue with NATO and bilateral contacts with leaders of key countries-members of the organization were used to clarify negative effects and potential risks of changing the existing configuration of power in Europe, – noted in the Ministry. – Stressed the confrontational nature of the Alliance decisions to invite Montenegro for negotiations on membership in NATO, leading to further fragmentation of the European security space, the creation of new dividing lines on the continent.”
