The share of vegetables and fruit grown in the North Caucasus, could grow by 2-3 times


MOSCOW, December 29. The share of vegetables and fruit grown in the republics of the North Caucasus up to 2020 could grow two to three fold from the current 5-8% to 15%. This was announced by the Minister of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus Lev Kuznetsov at the press conference V.

At present the regional development strategy involves the creation of additional capacity, including agriculture, the Minister said. “We have set ourselves the task of vegetables and fruits, primarily apples, corn – up to 15% of the national market to take. And it’s realistic,” – said Kuznetsov.

This indicator is planned to be achieved by 2020, said Kuznetsov. “We will strive to this period of time we have achieved the highest. Now we have ranging from 5% to 8%”, – he explained.

In addition, you must create the image of ecologically clean agricultural products of the North Caucasus, said the Minister. The development of agriculture in the region will allow to involve the rural population. So, you can solve the problem of attracting women to work, which, according to tradition, can only work in the women’s team. For example, they can enjoy the Apple harvest, said Kuznetsov.
