China Telecom has replaced the head of the Board of Directors because of an internal party investigation

BEIJING, December 31. /Corr. Roman Balandin/. The new Chairman of the Board of Directors of one of the largest mobile operators in China China Telecom appointed Yang Jie after in relation to his predecessor began an investigation. On Thursday told the news portal Sina.

Yang Jie for more than 20 years in various positions he worked in China Telecom. Since may 2006 he held the post of Deputy General Director, and since November 2011 the General Director of the company. In April 2012, Yang Jie became a member of the Board of China Telecom.

On December 27, the Central Commission of the Communist party of China (CPC) for discipline inspection announced the launch of an investigation against Jang Sabina, since August of this year to assume the presidency of the Board of Directors of China Telecom. He previously held a similar position in another major Chinese mobile operator China Unicom.

Most often such investigations over the accusations of corruption or abuse of power that usually leads to expulsion from the party and transfer the case to the trial court for further proceedings. At the stage of inner-party investigation usually does not specify the reason for its beginning.

Major players in the mobile market in China are China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom. China Mobile provides wireless and fixed communications over 806 million subscribers and is the largest mobile operator in the world, while the customer base of its nearest competitor in the Chinese market – China Unicom – is about 410 million subscribers. China Telecom is the third largest mobile operator in China. The company provides communication services around 190 million customers.
