The foreign Ministers of Russia and Finland Sergey Lavrov and Timo Soini exchanged congratulatory messages in connection with the 95th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and noted the strong traditions of Russian-Finnish relations.

MOSCOW, 31 Dec. The foreign Ministers of Russia and Finland Sergey Lavrov and Timo Soini exchanged congratulatory messages in connection with the 95th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, reported the Russian foreign Ministry.

“In connection with this anniversary, the foreign ministries of the two countries Sergey Lavrov and T. Soini exchanged congratulatory messages, to which, in particular, there are strong traditions of Russian-Finnish good-neighbourly relations, close contacts between regions and people, all-round trade, economic and investment cooperation of companies in different industries”, — stated in the message.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 31 December 1920 at the mission level, converted in 1954 into the Embassy, noted the help of the foreign Ministry. Finland recognized Russia as the successor state of the USSR 30 December 1991.
