The project “Northern stream-2” allegedly does not meet some of the requirements that apply in the EU, said in Kiev. According to “Naftogaz”, the project will not promote competition.
KYIV, 6 Dec –. The European Commission received a formal complaint of the company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” against the construction of the “Nord stream-2,” the company said.
“Fifth of January 2016 Energy Community Secretariat gave the European Commission a formal complaint, received from the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” for further investigation”, — stated in the message.
In the address “Naftogaz” States that in current form the project “Northern stream-2” does not meet the requirements of Department of transportation functions from the functions of gas supplies, which are used in the Energy Community and the EU. According to the company, the project should not get the exclusive right of non-compliance with these requirements, as this would not promote competition, will further worsen the security of supply and become harmful to the effective functioning of the gas market of the Energy Community.
The report notes that provided transportation through the territory of Ukraine of sufficient volumes of Russian gas and the organization of virtual reverse between Ukraine and the EU will become possible to connect gas markets of Central, Eastern and southern Europe to the market of the Energy Community. In his statement, “Naftogaz” emphasizes that Ukraine’s gas transportation system is a direct, reliable and competitive route for supply of Russian gas to the EU. “It’s also the only route for supplies of Russian gas to the EU, which is not controlled by “Gazprom”, — stated in the message.
The project “Northern stream-2” involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to the German coast. The shareholders ‘ agreement the joint project company that will build the pipeline was signed on 4 September.
