Cenis called politicized decision of the Finnish authorities to extradite him to the USA

HELSINKI, 8 January. /Corr. Nina Burmistrova/. The citizen of the Russian Federation Maxim Cenis disappointed by the decision of Finnish authorities to extradite him to the US. This is stated in his statement that the Russian lawyers from the law office NordLex (“Nordex”) have provided.

“I, Maxim Cenis, reported that severely disappointed in the biased attitude from the Finnish side. I think adopted by the Ministry of justice of Finland the decision politicized and infringes my human rights. In the USA I faces a prison sentence of over 100 years on charges of crimes I did not commit”, – he stressed.

“The decision to extradite me to the U.S. justice Department cites the clauses of the Supreme court, given that the official opinion of the Supreme court were not unanimous and the minority disagree with my extradition,” said he.

Earlier on Friday it became known that the Ministry of justice of Finland on 5 January decided to extradite Senaha in the United States.

The Russian foreign Ministry today issued a statement saying that Moscow regrets the decision of the Ministry of justice of Finland. “As soon as it became known, recently the Ministry of justice of Finland made decisions on extradition for prosecution in the U.S. of Russian citizens Senaha M. V. and A. E. Sergeeva, who earlier American requests were arrested by the Finnish authorities and placed under arrest on charges of crimes in the sphere of information and communication technologies. Such a development was deeply regrettable,” – said in depodesta. “I hope that the measures to be taken by lawyers of Russians, will seek a review of this decision”, – noted in the Ministry.

The Case Of Senaka

Maxim Cenis was detained on the Finnish-Russian border in early August at the request of the American authorities.

From this point on, the U.S. had 45 days to request his extradition. If within this period a formal request has not been received, the Russians could not be released.

In September, Finland received from the United States request for the extradition of Senaka. Against the Russians in Minnesota charged with committing numerous computer fraud and abuse. According to the Ministry of justice of Finland, he is suspected of receiving substantial benefits from the charge brought against him of criminal activity.

In early November, the protection of Senaha filed in the Supreme court of Finland documents about the impossibility of his extradition, because “no reason”. Earlier, the Russian lawyer said that his client is in the U.S. for alleged violations of the law could face more than a hundred years in prison.
