Sales of passenger cars in Russia in 2015 fell 36%

Moscow. January 14. Sales of passenger cars and LCV in Russia in 2015 fell 36%, to 1.6 million units, said the Chairman of automobile manufacturers Committee of the AEB Joerg Schreiber at the conference on Thursday.

However, sales in December were down 45.7% compared with the same month last year, to 147 thousand vehicles.

“It was a very difficult year, without lifting, which was at the end of the past,” said Schreiber, adding that, despite this dramatic drop, the market remained above the worst result – 1,46 million cars sold in 2009.

According to the forecast of the AEB in the current year, the passenger car market in Russia will amount of 1.53 million units, is 4.7% less than in 2015. The forecast assumes that no significant changes in the level of government support for the automobile sector, particularly stimulating the retail demand.

“In General, it is expected that 2016 will be less turbulent from the point of view of dynamics of sales, but still the uncertainty associated with oil prices and the ruble,” – said Schreiber.
