Russia needs to form a cohesive program out of the crisis and to make constructive efforts, believes former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev.
MOSCOW, 19 APR –. The situation in the Russian economy are very heavy, need a program of recovery from the crisis and mobilization of the society, said former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, who led efforts to rebuild the Soviet economy amid falling oil prices from more than 110 to less than $ 25 per barrel in the 1980s.
This raised legitimate questions on the way out of the crisis, but it is not clear what needs to be done, and efforts are not enough, he said.
“It is very difficult (the current economic situation). We are in such a situation are that a great effort is needed, and intelligent, constructive effort to get out of this”, — said the first President of the USSR.
He recalled the proposals that has been suggested by President Vladimir Putin in meetings with the government.
“And a lot seemed to instill hope that something will be better. Then all that was left behind. Turns out that they say to calm, and then there are incomplete efforts to perform. Now if this is not done, we’re just going in a very different position, slide down. So the main question now is joining efforts of the whole society,” — said the Agency interlocutor. The main issue here – the policy and organisational work, “the things that should unite, mobilize society,” Gorbachev says.
Now we do not know exactly how long it will take Russia out of the crisis, he said.
“In parts we speak and raise questions justified, but to say we know today what steps, what to do, the program we now have – it is not. Without this, how can you say that? But not to lose time, already in a dire situation for the country,” said the former President of the USSR.
According to him, the coordinated program of recovery from the crisis has yet to form. “Programs like this did not exist, everything is ahead… But while it’s not, yet emerges a plan of action. Program and organizational work on its implementation – that’s the main thing,” concluded Gorbachev.
