MOSCOW, January 19. The Minister of economic development of Russia Alexei Ulyukayev may serve on the Board of Directors of “Gazprom”, the newspaper “Kommersant” with reference to several sources familiar with the situation. According to them, the speaker appears in the government’s list of candidates for election at the annual meeting of shareholders “Gazprom” which traditionally takes place in late June.
Now this list, according to the newspaper, agreed with the presidential administration.
Other changes among the candidates from the state to the Board of Directors of the company are not expected – the speaker should take the place of Valery Musin, who died late last year. Thus, if the speaker candidacy is approved, the only independent Director on the Board of “Gazprom” can remain the head of the Kazenergy Association, the former head of the Fund “Samruk – Kazyna” Timur Kulibayev.
The newspaper notes that the speaker may become the second member of the government appointed to the Board of “Gazprom” for last year – at the last meeting the Council includes Minister of energy Alexander Novak.
Participation in Board of Directors “Gazprom” can give the Ministry at least direct access to information about the investment plans of Gazprom. As noted by the interlocutors of the newspaper in the government, often this information from “Gazprom” not easy to obtain, although the investment program of the company is statistically signicant to the growth of the Russian economy.
