Strategy of national safety of the Russian Federation involves the entry of the country among the leaders in terms of GDP


MOSCOW, January 19. The national security strategy of the Russian Federation, approved at the end of last year Russian President Vladimir Putin, puts one of the development goals of the country joining the world leaders in terms of gross domestic product. This was stated to journalists by the assistant to the Secretary of the security Council of the Russian Federation Sergey Vakhrukov.

“Strategic objectives are the development of the national economy, ensuring economic security, creating conditions for personal development, transition of economy to a new level of technological development of Russia’s entry into number of the countries – leaders in terms of gross domestic product and confront internal and external threats,” he said.

According to vahrukov, considerable attention in the national security Strategy of Russia is paid to the definition of the main strategic threats to national security in the economic sphere, which include low competitiveness, preservation of raw materials export model of development and high dependence on external economic conditions, delays in the development and implementation of advanced technologies, the imbalance in the national budgetary system, the lack of resources for lending, the vulnerability of national financial systems, as well as a number of other challenges and threats.

“The adjusted critical challenges, the solution of which will be the main endeavour – said the assistant Secretary of the security Council. – Such tasks is the elimination of imbalances in the economy, reducing regional disparities in socio-economic development of subjects of the Russian Federation, reduction of vulnerability to external negative factors, pragmatic participation in international economic cooperation, increase of efficiency of state management in the economic sphere and a number of other tasks”.

Measures to achieve the objectives

The achievement of these objectives will be achieved through measures such as the development of industrial-technological base and the national innovation system, modernization and development of priority sectors of the national economy, increase the investment attractiveness of the Russian Federation, improvement of the financial and banking system, improve the business climate and creating a favourable business environment.

“Energy security is identified as one of the most important directions of ensuring economic security and includes the sustainable provision of domestic energy demand, increase energy efficiency and energy saving, the competitiveness of domestic energy companies and producers of energy, stable functioning of energy systems and heat supply”, – said Vakhrukov.
