SUKHUMI, January 19. /Corr. Angela Kuchuberia/. The government of Abkhazia approved the list of Turkish goods, import of which into the Republic will be limited from March 1, 2016. The corresponding order was issued by Prime Minister Artur mikvabia.
“We’re talking about fish, fish meat and fish flour, and potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cabbages, cucumbers and gherkins. As for fruit, citrus, grapes, melon, watermelon, papaya, apples, pears and quinces, apricots, cherries, peaches, plums and sloes”, – said the press service of the government. It noted that the restrictions do not apply to goods imported for personal use to the extent permitted by the laws of the Republic.
As explained korr. in the State customs Committee (SCC), for personal use are allowed to import not more than 50 kg of food. “In each specific case all depends on the nature of goods and frequency of movement across the border,” – said the Agency interlocutor.
According to him, is now a prerequisite for the importation of fruits and vegetables will be the presentation of a certificate of origin of goods. “If imported goods are without certificates, the origin must set the chamber of Commerce and industry of Abkhazia. If it is determined that a product is produced or grown in Turkey, and it is included in a restrictive list, then import it on the territory of our Republic will be prohibited”, – said the employee of the customs Committee.
Earlier, the Minister of economy of Abkhazia Adgur Ardzinba said that the sanctions that Abkhazia will enter against Turkey, will only affect imports of goods. “We will proceed from in order to reduce costs. Of course, any sanctions would bring negative economic effect, but it is a necessary measure, dictated by our relationship with our strategic partner – Russia,” he said.
According to the Minister, today the share of Turkey in foreign trade turnover of Abkhazia accounts for about 14.2%. “According to the latest data, the volume of imports from Turkey of 1.5 billion rubles per year, exports about 1.3 billion rubles,” – said Ardzinba.
In accordance with new regulation, published today on the government website, “organizations that are under the jurisdiction of Turkey and controlled by citizens of Turkey, it is forbidden to carry out activities on the implementation of activities envisaged by the investment program to promote socio-economic development of the Republic for 2015-2017 years”. In addition, the “banned and suspended registration activities in the territory of Abkhazia of non-profit organizations established by or under the control of Turkish citizens”.
