City court of Petrozavodsk has started consideration of the suit of ex-mayor of capital of Karelia Galina Chisinau to the city Council, which sent her into retirement for dereliction of office for three months or more, said the correspondent of TASS from the courtroom.
Shirshina asks the court to declare illegal and cancel the decision of the Petrozavodsk city Council about removing her to resign.

Present at the meeting itself Shirshina, her lawyer, representatives of the city Council and the city hall of Petrozavodsk, as well as journalists and citizens. Representatives of the city administration and the city Council objected to the video broadcasting of the court session on the Internet, because during the proceedings it is planned to call witnesses, but it “can partly affect their opinion”. They are also banned. The party plaintiff did not object to this. In the end, the judge Elena Lazareva banned online broadcast, enabling video and photo-taking during the first 15 minutes.
In the beginning of the meeting, the representative of Chisinau declared the petition for acquaintance with documents that the court submitted to the city administration. The judge granted this request and adjourned for one hour until 11:20 GMT.
Deputies of the city Council of Petrozavodsk on December 25 2015 sent Galina Shirshina to resign for dereliction of duties within three and more months. Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen has expressed consent to its resignation. On December 29, the deputies of the Petrograd Soviet at the extraordinary session appointed acting head of the city Irina Miroshnik, who was previously the Deputy chief of staff of the city Council. Then in Petrozavodsk were held several rallies in support of Chisinau, and she challenged the decision of deputies in court.
Shirshina the independent candidate was elected for five years by the mayor of Petrozavodsk, September 8, 2013 with the support of the regional branch of the party “Yabloko”. She scored 41.9 per cent votes ahead of the incumbent mayor Nikolay Levin (“United Russia”).
