MOSCOW, 20 Jan. Decriminalization of violations related to illegal business, long overdue, it will free law enforcement for more important work, said a former investigator and now a lawyer at law office ZKS Andrey Grivtsov.

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin, speaking Wednesday at the forum of entrepreneurs “Small business — national idea?”, said he was willing to discuss the provisions of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation about the illegal business, if they interfere with bona fide business.

“Given the economic situation in the country can say that the increase in the threshold amount of damages recovered income on this article is long overdue,” said Grivtsov.

He explained that currently this amount is 1.5 million: if a person extracts the income from entrepreneurial activities, i.e. activities without registration, in excess of 1.5 million rubles, it can be prosecuted.

“In practice, this means fighting with small shopkeepers, trading with the hands without registration as entrepreneurs”, — said Grivtsov.

According to him, this struggle is often engaged in law enforcement. “It is gratifying, if the President believes that the law enforcement authorities, it is advisable to focus on other activities, and the actions of persons engaged in small business without registration, it is necessary to decriminalize”, — said the lawyer.
