MOSCOW, January 20. The defense Ministry agreed with interested agencies a bill granting to the armed forces who participated in operations in Syria, the status of combat veteran. This was announced by state Secretary- Deputy defense Minister Nikolai Pankov.

“The bill is ready and approved. I think that in a short time this matter will be regulated by law” – said Pankov.

He expressed hope that the state Duma will consider this issue as a priority.

Pankov reminded that since January 1, entered into force the law on which the defence Ministry had worked for more than a decade. It applies to military personnel, solved the problems in Tajikistan in the 90-ies. “The bill passed, and in accordance with the military personnel performing special tasks in Tajikistan, equated to the combatants,” explained the Deputy Minister.

Deputy defense Minister also spoke about legislative activities of the military Department in 2015.

“In 2015, we worked with 45 draft laws, 14 of them adopted by the Federation Council … Two of them are related to problems of defense procurement that a very important and complicated bill, which also proved to be a success is making changes in the Federal law “On automobile roads and road activities in the Russian Federation”, – said the Deputy Minister.

The state Duma Committee on labor ready to quickly consider the bill on granting the status of war veterans soldiers participating in operations against terrorist groups in Syria, in case the initiative will be introduced in the lower house of Parliament. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Committee Mikhail Moiseev.

“The Committee is ready to consider this initiative in a prompt manner,” he added.
