Kostin: the ruble will hardly ever get back to the value of 60 rubles per dollar

DAVOS, January 21. The ruble will hardly ever get back to the value of 60 rubles per dollar, said the head of VTB Andrey Kostin. “Expectations in General is that the ruble will be weak on the background of strengthening of dollar much including. I do not expect a significant strengthening of the ruble, although the rebound in oil prices, some correlation up possible. But the level of 60 rubles he will never be back,” he told journalists on the sidelines of the forum in Davos.

However, he did not believe the shock of another low rate of the ruble.

“I think shock is not present, because, to some degree, and markets, and population allow such a possibility (current exchange rate approx.ed.) amid falling oil prices. We have some extraordinary behaviour of our customers do not see,” he said.

In sharp jumps of the ruble, the Central Bank, most likely, will take action, said the head of VTB. According to Kostin, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, most likely, will refrain from sharp changes in the key rate.

According to Kostin, VTB is in a negative scenario, considering the price of oil on average in 2016 to $30 per barrel.

“We tested the average level in 2016 – $ 30,” said Kostin, answering an appropriate question.
