Unknown persons prevented the emergency repair of electricity from Ukraine in Crimea


MOSCOW, January 21. NEC “Ukrenergo” received a message about the disconnection by unknown persons on the territory of Ukraine of cables of all phases on supports of high voltage lines (overhead lines) 330 kV “Kakhovka – Ostrovskaya”, the overhead line 330 kV “Kakhovska – Dzhankoi” and HVL 220 kV “Kakhovka – Titanium”.

In 2014 Ukraine to buy electricity from the power system of Russia under contract between “inter RAO” and “Ukrinterenergo”, which was in force until the end of 2015. At the same time the contract was made and on the supply of electricity from Ukraine in Crimea. However, the supply of electricity from Ukraine in Crimea ceased 22 November 2015, when because of the erosion of the supports out of order, all four power lines coming from Ukraine.

In December 2015, Ukraine has partially restored supply of electricity in the Crimea, however, Russia has not concluded a contract for the supply of energy to the Peninsula in 2016, as Kiev called to prescribe that the Crimea is Ukrainian territory.

Earlier, Minister of energy Alexander Novak told journalists that the grounds for extension of contract for the supply of electricity in Ukraine is not.

“Last year, there were two contracts for the supply of electricity from Russia to Ukraine and from Ukraine to Crimea. They were linked among themselves. It was mutually beneficial from the point of view of price formation, sales. Today, given the fact that the contract is not extended to the Crimea, respectively, there is no reason to extend the contract for Ukraine,” he said.

According to all-Russian center for public opinion research (VTSIOM), 93.1% of residents of Crimea and Sevastopol voted against the contract with Kiev on the supply of electricity if it is specified that Crimea and Sevastopol are part of Ukraine.

Earlier, the press service of the Ministry of energy and coal industry of Ukraine reported that Ukraine imports electricity from Russia since the beginning of October 2015.
