MOSCOW, 22 Jan –. The apparatus of the state Duma examines the possibility of optimizing the budget of the chamber: if necessary, low-priority, ineffective spending can be reduced, said Deputy head of the Duma’s apparatus, head of public relations and media relations Yuri Shuvalov.
Earlier, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that the Russian government has taken a decision on optimization of the budget, the Ministry had until mid January to prepare and submit to the Finance Ministry its proposals on the reduction of costs by 10%. On Thursday, the Vedomosti newspaper wrote with reference to three Federal officials that the Cabinet is discussing the possibility of further spending cuts over the decision about 10% sequestration.
“We think about a possible reduction, if necessary, are calculated for different scenarios. This calculation is performed in the apparatus, based on the principle of reducing non-priority and inefficient costs, i.e. those costs that will not interfere with the activities of the Parliament at this stage. If the need for such will, such decisions will be taken”, — said Shuvalov.
