DAVOS, 22 January. The drop in oil prices has a positive impact on the U.S. defense budget, because it reduces the cost of operating combat aircraft and ships. About it on January 22 in an interview with TV channel Bloomberg TV said the US Secretary of defense Ashton Carter.
“This (low oil prices) is good for our budget, as the air force and Navy consume fuel in large quantities,” said Carter.
“And if you think strategically, we are happy that some are getting less profit due to the fact that oil prices have dropped,” the Minister admitted, without naming specific countries.
However, the Pentagon chief noted that low oil prices affected the budget of Iraq, a U.S. ally in the fight against terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia).
