About it has informed journalists the Minister of energy Alexander Novak.

The Minister explained that all the rules of the game clear to the end of the first quarter.

As reported earlier, PJSC “Gazprom” sent “Naftogaz of Ukraine” account to pay for gas at $2,549 billion, not selected Ukrainian company in the 3rd quarter of 2015 at the condition of “take or pay”.

Gazprom expects payment of the invoice within 10 days. As reported in the press service of “Naftogaz” challenges the application of this provision in court at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm chamber of Commerce.

On January 19, 2016 total cash requirements, declared “Gazprom” the claim with reference to the position of the take-or-pay, is $26.7 billion and for the period from 2012 to 2014.

What was the reaction of “Naftogaz”

Naftogaz of Ukraine” actually refused to pay the bill of $2,59 billion, issued on January 19 “Gazprom”, declaring unlawful the application of the principle of “take or pay”. This was reported by the press service of “Naftogaz”.

“NAK “Naftogaz of Ukraine” believes the provision of “take or pay” in the form as set out in the contract with PJSC “Gazprom”, nonmarket, illegal and void, – stated in the message. – The validity of the claims of “Gazprom”, based on “take or pay”, will be determined by the court”.

The Minister of energy and coal industry of Ukraine Volodymyr demchyshyn also said that the validity of the invoice issued by “Gazprom” will determine the court. “This is a question for the court. There is nothing new showed up. We expect real solutions”, – said demchyshyn.

The Minister acknowledged that Kiev spends in preparing to process a considerable amount. “Objectively large amount of money being spent on lawyers. I hope that we use them efficiently”, he added.
