Among the major agreements include the agreement between the Italian company Saipem, specializing in the construction of pipelines group and the Iranian National Gas Company and Persian Oil & Gas Company totaling about $ 5 billion.
ROME, 26 Jan – RIA Novosti, Sergei Elders. Seven official and ten commercial agreements were signed on Monday in Rome during the visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
“We felt that there is a need for considerable investment at the economic level. We signed the first agreement, but this is only the beginning. There are industries in which we can and should cooperate more,” he said on Monday night Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi after talks with Rouhani.
Among the largest of economic agreements reached during the first visit, Rouhani in one of the countries of the European Union after the lifting of sanctions with Iran, consists of agreements between the Italian company Saipem, specializing in the construction of large pipelines, and Iran’s National Gas Company groups and Persian oil&gas company totaling about $ 5 billion. It is, in particular, on creation of gas pipeline length of 1.8 thousand kilometers.
In addition, Italian group Danieli signed a deal worth about 5.7 billion euros, which provide for the delivery and installation of equipment for the metallurgical industry in Iran and the establishment of a joint venture with the Iranian side.
Another Italian company Itinera, part of construction group Gavio, has signed a series of agreements with Iranian companies totaling about 4 billion euros, which provide for the joint implementation of several major infrastructure projects in Iran, primarily in the field of railway construction. At the same time a bilateral agreement was signed between the transport ministries of the two countries, under which the company state Railways of Italy should become the main partner of the Iranian side in the industry.
Agreements on development of bilateral cooperation were signed in Rome between the ministries of health, education, agriculture Italy and Iran, and between Iran’s Central Bank and Italian export credit Agency SACE.
Local observers note that some of the achievements of the Rome agreements there is no agreement on a full-scale return to Iran the largest Italian oil and gas group Eni, and new investments on her part. As it became known, the head of Eni Claudio Descalzi met with the Minister of oil of Iran Bijan Zanganeh, however, apparently, for progress in this area will take some time.
During his visit, Rouhani accompanied by six Ministers and about 120 prominent businessmen and heads of large state companies.
