Sanctions against Russia because of the events in the Donbass have become a theater of the absurd, believes Deputy head of the Military Academy of the General staff of the RF armed forces General-major Sergey Charkov.
MOSCOW, 26 Jan. The reaction of the West to the annexation of Crimea to Russia is not aimed to support Ukraine and deter Russia, said Deputy head of the Military Academy of the General staff of the RF armed forces General-major Sergey Charkov.
“As for the reaction of our Western partners to the annexation of Crimea to Russia, she was mistakenly sent not to support Ukraine, and the containment of Russia”, — he said Tuesday at the Christmas readings in the Academy.
He added that sanctions imposed on Russia because of the events in the Donbass, “take on the character of the theatre of the absurd”, since the main tasks in the framework of the implementation of the Minsk agreements lie at the existing authorities of Ukraine, not Russia.
“It is impossible to demand from Moscow that Kyiv must do”, — said the General.
