In Petrozavodsk the election Commission rejected the referendum on recall of deputies, fired the mayor


PETROZAVODSK, January 27. /Corr. Igor Lukyanov/. Election Commission of Petrozavodsk refused to register the initiative group of local residents, who offered to hold a referendum on the revocation of the 23 deputies of the city Council who previously sent in resignation of mayor Galina Shirshina. This was announced on Wednesday by the Chairman of the Commission Gregory Patrik.

“The meeting took place on January 26. The decision of the Commission refused to register the initiative group due to the fact that the submitted documents do not meet the requirements of the legislation,” he said.

According to the head of the electoral Commission, on Wednesday, the claimants will receive her decision, and they will have 10 days to appeal.

Deputies of the city Council of Petrozavodsk on December 25 2015 sent Shirshina to resign for dereliction of duties within three and more months. On December 29, the deputies of the Petrograd Soviet at the extraordinary session appointed acting head of the city Irina Miroshnik, who was previously the Deputy chief of staff of the city Council. Then in Petrozavodsk were held several rallies in support of Chisinau.

She challenged the decision of deputies in court. The Petrozavodsk city court on January 21 upheld the dismissal. The ex-mayor announced his intention to challenge it in the Supreme court of Karelia.
