CAIRO, January 27. Member of National Assembly of France Thierry Mariani will visit with their colleagues in the Crimea, and until June – Donbass in response to a “measly” resolution of PACE about the alleged imposed sanctions against MEPs for a similar trip. This was reported to journalists by the Chairman of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov, who heads the Russian delegation in PACE.
“The famous French MP Thierry Mariani, who criticized PACE for the fact that he headed the delegation of French parliamentarians who visited the Crimea, informed me that in response to the PACE resolution, he intends to carry out with a number of French deputies and a further trip to the Crimea, and before June even going to bring in the Donbass”, – said Pushkov.
According to him, thus Mariani responds to the amendment, which was submitted by Ukraine and which took PACE, “showing that it is insignificant and that it will have no impact on the activities of his own and those who consider it necessary to visit the Crimea or the Donbass”.
“Here’s the answer of a prominent French MP on this amendment,” said Pushkov, explaining that in its resolution PACE only took note, and earlier in Ukraine the practice of “black lists”.
Previously Pushkov wrote on his Twitter page that the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has not imposed and may not impose sanctions for parliamentarians, visiting the Crimea and the Donbass, publications on this topic – Ukrainian “fake”. Pushkov pointed out that PACE is an Advisory body of the Council of Europe, “its resolutions are recommendatory in nature, she is not entitled to prohibit or authorize the deputies”.
