Russia’s agriculture Ministry has confirmed the forecast for the harvest in 2016 at the level of 104 million tonnes


MOSCOW, January 27. Russia’s agriculture Ministry has confirmed the forecast for the harvest in 2016 at the level of 104 million tons. About it told journalists the head of Department of plant growing of the Ministry of agriculture Pyotr Chekmarev.

“104 million tonnes – the figure we are required to perform. This is our task,” he said.

However, he noted that to predict an exact forecast now early. “How much of (crop) will be, (to speak) sooner – it will all depend on what will happen on the wheat,” – said the head of the Department.

“As soon as winter will come, we will understand their safety and will be able to give first (real) forecast, then an average of 45% of the gross grain harvest is winter crops”, – said the head of the Department.

According to Chekmareva, upon completion of the planting will be done the second forecast. “To see if the area will be performed and what crops planted,” said he, adding that this year the weather conditions are better than in the past – “a lot of snow, there is no risk of freezing, and it’s better than last year”.
