The state Duma will discuss with Minister Livanov, present and future of Russian education


MOSCOW, January 27. The state Duma will hear in the framework of the “Governmental hour” the Minister of education Dmitry Livanov. As stated to journalists by the speaker of the lower house Sergei Naryshkin, “we will talk about the present and future of the education system”.

This Naryshkin noted that “Russia needs a modern and efficient system of education”. “We don’t need in education reform for the sake of reforms. We need modern, effective, open system of education, which meets the highest world standards and, of course, relies on the traditions of Russian, including Soviet education”, – said the head of the lower house. According to Naryshkin, “the conversation will be hot”.

The discussion, according to representatives of the Duma factions, might raise issues of the abolition of the exam, the so-called optimization and other topical issues, including the fight against corruption in the Ministry of education. “And the main question is when Livanov will retire”, – told reporters, in particular, the leader “Fair Russia” Sergey Mironov.
