Medvedev believes the problem of import substitution can be resolved


In Russia there are measures to support enterprises and the market is structured correctly, so the situation is similar to the previous economic crisis in the country will not be repeated, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

St. PETERSBURG, 28 Jan. Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev considers it quite feasible task to replace imports in Russia with domestic goods.

After seeing the St. Petersburg tractor plant, the Prime Minister met with the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko. “The production of modern, model range of brand new, market demand not only in our country but also abroad” — said Medvedev seen. “This suggests that the substitution works,” he said.

“In 2009, when there was an economic crisis, they (at the St. Petersburg tractor plant) production was almost 4 times less than in 2015, because it didn’t work support measures because the market was structured incorrectly, because there was no modern models that are available today,” said Medvedev.

“So, if desired, these objectives can be achieved,” he said. According to him, “most importantly, we make foreign manufacturers for its quality products”.
