Medvedev: the program of support of domestic agricultural machinery industry will be extended

ST. PETERSBURG, January 28. The program of support of domestic agricultural machinery industry will be extended, means on it is provided, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev during a visit to St. Petersburg tractor factory (PTZ).

The head of government reported that at the Commission meeting on import substitution, which he will hold on Thursday, “we will talk about how this program to preserve and expand”. “There are different proposals. Importantly, that money laid”, – said Medvedev.

Measures support engineering

The head of government stressed that the measures of support engineers will be distributed differently than during the crisis of 2008-2009, He recalled that in that period production in the reserve was reduced to 400 cars. “But then we support measures differently distributed, and there was a drop. Now, frankly, really bad economic situation, but the production is growing, as support measures work in a different way,” he said.

The Prime Minister drew attention to the fact that Russian farmers today buy domestic cars, and “production of agricultural machinery was of an entirely different quality.”

Medvedev urged machinists to take advantage of the cheap ruble, to “enhance the market”.

“So that the program (support agricultural engineering) works, I’m happy that we took. We will continue, now such decisions and take,” he said, referring to the forthcoming meeting.

The ban on the export of scrap metal

During his visit to St. Petersburg tractor plant is one of the factory workers asked the Prime Minister to introduce a “ban on the export of” scrap metal. Asked the Prime Minister accompanied by Minister of industry and trade Denis Manturov to think about this question.

The Prime Minister also drew the Minister’s attention to the concerns of employees of plant competition, which makes them in the domestic market, the products of Belarusian manufacturers of agricultural machinery.

The substitution works

After seeing the St. Petersburg tractor plant, the Prime Minister met with the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko. “The production of modern, model range of brand new, market demand not only in our country but also abroad,” – appreciated what he saw at the company the Chairman of the government. In his view, “this suggests that the substitution works.”

“In 2009, when there was an economic crisis, they (at the St. Petersburg tractor plant) production was almost 4 times less than in 2015, because it didn’t work support measures because the market was structured incorrectly, because there was no modern models that are available today”, – said Medvedev. “So, if desired, these objectives can be achieved,” he said. The Prime Minister added that “most importantly, we make foreign manufacturers for its quality products”.
