SIMFEROPOL, 28 Jan. The Governor of Sevastopol Sergey meniailo criticized the promise former Prime Minister of Russia, the leader of the Party of people’s freedom (PARNAS) Mikhail Kasyanov to return the Crimea to the Ukraine and has urged a policy not to sell air.
Earlier, several media outlets reported that Kasyanov during a meeting in Strasbourg with one of the initiators of the blockade of Crimea Mustafa Dzhemilev has promised in case of coming to power to return the Peninsula to Ukraine.
“Kasyanov is a seller of air because it is easier to promise something that does not belong to him. Act Kasyanov will best Express the words from a famous movie: “what public lands are wasting?! So any volosts you will not save enough!” — said Menyailo.
Menyailo said that the Crimea became part of Russia voluntarily, on the basis of the will of the overwhelming majority of the population.
“People lined up in huge queues on the day of the referendum. No they were not persecuted neither at gunpoint nor inviting money, nor promise any Golden mountains. People wanted to return to their homeland”, — said the Governor.
Crimea and Sevastopol became part of Russia following the results of the March referendum in 2014. Reunification with Russia was supported by 96,77% of Crimeans and 95.6% of Sevastopol. The authorities of Ukraine and Western countries refused to recognize the will of the people and has imposed sanctions in the region.
