MOSCOW, 29 Jan. The Russian government has supported a draft law aimed at regulating the procedure for using images of and statements by individuals in campaign material, reported Friday on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation. In particular, the bill prohibits candidates to use the campaign photos with other people including famous.

The draft Federal law introduced by state Duma deputies Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Igor Lebedev and Yaroslav Nilov.

The bill proposes to establish a ban on the use of the advertising materials images of an individual who has no right to conduct pre-election agitation and agitation for referendum.

The bill also implies that statements by various individuals about the candidate and political parties can be used as before, provided that the candidate’s consent to such use. However, the draft explicitly prohibited for use in campaign materials statements by individuals, which the Federal law is prohibited to carry out election agitation, agitation on referendum.

“As follows from the explanatory note, the bill seeks to increase awareness of candidates on elections of any level, promoting their active direct involvement in the election campaign that will increase awareness of voters about candidates and the electoral associations (political parties)”, — stated in the message.

“For these reasons, the government of the Russian Federation supports the bill,” concluded the Cabinet.

The Duma elections will be held in September.
