Moscow. January 29. French oil company Total and Iran signed a Memorandum of understanding for the purchase of crude oil from the Islamic Republic.
The Memorandum was signed on 28 January, the National Iranian oil company and Total, on the sidelines of a meeting between Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and French President Francois Hollande at the Elysee Palace in Paris, Trend reports.
Earlier, Iranian oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said that Total intends to buy Iran crude oil.
“The contract will enable the company to buy from Iran 150-200 thousand barrels of oil per day”, – said earlier the head of Total Patrick Pouyanne.
Before the imposition of sanctions against Iran in 2012, the EU imported approximately 800 thousand barrels of Iranian oil and condensate.
The delegation of Iran led by President Hassan Rouhani is the second day in Paris on an official visit.
