MOSCOW, January 30. Issues of conflict resolution in the middle East and North Africa on a generally recognized international legal basis discussed in Addis Ababa, Deputy foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov with Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas. As have informed in the Russian foreign Ministry, the meeting took place on Friday, before the opening of the 26th summit of the African Union.
“During the meeting the parties discussed topical issues of further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations, including the maintenance of active political dialogue, primarily on the issue of conflict resolution in the middle East and North Africa on a generally recognized international legal basis”, – have informed in depodesta.
Mahmoud Abbas highly appreciated the vigorous efforts of Russia to combat terrorism and extremism in the middle East.
“Mahmoud Abbas praised the efforts of Russia to combat terrorism and extremism in the middle East region and expressed appreciation for the continued principled position of Moscow in favor of establishing an independent Palestinian state living in peace and security with neighbouring countries, including Israel,” stressed the Russian foreign Ministry.
