Khristenko: EEU to complete the formation of new common markets

In present conditions it is necessary to develop a consolidated position, completing the work on the formation of new common markets of markets of medicines, medical products, tobacco, alcoholic beverages, oil, gas, electricity, said the Chairman of the EEC Viktor Khristenko.

MOSCOW, 1 Feb. The Eurasian economic Union (EEU) in the current environment should develop a consolidated position and make decisions that minimize negative consequences for the economies of the countries-participants of Association, it is necessary to complete the work on the formation of new common markets, says the former Chairman of the Eurasian economic Commission (EEC) Viktor Khristenko.

Former Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan on February 1 assumed the duties of Chairman of the Eurasian economic Commission (the Executive body of the Eurasian economic Union), replacing the post Khristenko.

“Of course, probably, slightly will change the task slightly and will change the foci of attention. Today’s situation, in my opinion, dictates at least two things. We all, all the countries of the Union and the Union as a whole, are facing new and serious external in the first place, the challenges that will certainly affect our economies. And in this sense it requires a consolidated position and evaluation, and decision making that minimize these negative consequences,” — said Khristenko at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to him, the presence of the Union in such a difficult situation is an obvious plus.

“This is an opportunity to find new sources of growth in our economies here, within us. And even despite all the hard times, it should be noted that in recent years we not only grew sales, but we have developed in a completely different rational, efficient structure of economic interaction, where to a much lesser extent we are dependent on the mineral constituents to a much greater extent we are bound end products, high-tech product cycles – and this is an extremely important trend,” he said.

Khristenko expressed the view that “the upcoming four years on the Commission should be spent on the so-called nudeinterracial, that failed to do, and what maybe is on the waiting list, to include in the work.”

“I mean new and single markets of medicines, medical products, tobacco, alcoholic beverages, oil, gas and electricity, which will significantly enrich the palette of the entire domestic economic single market – on the one side,” he explained.

He also noted that better tools of customs regulation, technical regulation are already to date, unified, unified, but there are often exceptions and limitations, which reduces the effect of the functioning of the single market, makes it impossible to unleash the full potential of integration.

“I am absolutely sure that these focuses of attention – I am sure that the Commission will have to draw their activity – will allow the internal source of growth single market to really open for the benefit of all our countries”, — said Khristenko.
