WARSAW, 1 February. /Corr. Irina Polina/. At midnight the movement of trucks at the border crossings between Poland and Russian Kaliningrad oblast stopped. This was reported by Polish customs.

February 1 has expired permits for cargo transportation, which annually between Russia and Poland. The parties failed to reach agreement on new permissions, so the truckers of the two countries today are not able to cross the border.

“Kaliningrad region is small. It can be crossed in a few hours. Probably Polish carriers had until midnight to return to the country. The Russians on the border also have no”, – said the press Secretary of the Polish customs service in Olsztyn Ryszard Thin. According to him, if the border appears Russian carriers, they will not flow into the Republic.

A new round of talks

The Ministry of infrastructure and the construction of Poland at noon (14:00 MSK) will begin another round of talks on granting permits for trucking between the two countries.

The situation will be discussed at the expert level in the framework of the Mixed Commission on cooperation in the sphere of international road transport.

As reported by the Polish Agency, “the positive outcome of these negotiations will make possible a meeting between the Deputy Minister Jerzy Schmidt and Deputy Minister of transport of the Russian Federation Nikolay assaul”.

“Tentatively it is scheduled for 2 February,” – said the press service of the Ministry.

Could not agree

As noted earlier, the head of the Association of international road carriers (ASMAP) Andrey Kurushin, annually conduct negotiations to identify and transfer an agreed number of permit forms for the carriage of goods by road. The agreement to be signed provides for the exchange of special permits that give the right to the carriage of goods from third countries or in third countries.

According to the Russian side, the new law eliminated the existing deficiencies in the national regulatory framework, using which unscrupulous foreign carriers imported from third countries to Russia goods under cover of preferential bilateral mode of transportation.
