Coal production in Russia in January increased by 3.3%, exports increased by 6.6%


MOSCOW, 2 February. Coal production in Russia in January 2016 has increased compared to January, 2015 by 3.3%, to 32.2 million tonnes, exports rose by 6.6% to 12.6 million tons. This is stated in the materials of the Central dispatching office of fuel and energy complex (CDU TEK).

Supply of coal to neighboring countries increased in the reporting period by 51.3% to 1.07 million tons in the far abroad countries has increased by 3.8% to 11.5 million tons.

As previously reported, in December of 2015, President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to resume the supply of coal to Ukraine in response to Kiev resume the flow of electricity in the Crimea. Deliveries of Russian coal in Ukraine are estimated in January 2016 at 0.8-1 million tonnes of coking coal.

Deliveries of Russian coal to the domestic market during the reporting period increased by 2,2% to 17,38 million tonnes compared with the same period in 2015, including coking – by 0.7%, to 3 million tons.

The largest coal mining companies during the reporting period were as follows: OAO “SUEK” – 9,57 million tons of coal (+12,8% as of January 2015), JSC UK “Kuzbassrazrezugol” (part of UMMC) – 3,37 million tons (+1,1%), JSC HC “SDS-Coal” – 2,4 million tons (+6,1%), OOO “Company “Vostsibugol” – 1.2 million tonnes (-17%), OJSC MC “southern Kuzbass” (included in “Mechel”) – 681 thousand tons (-19%), OAO OUK “JUzhkuzbassugol” (part of Evraz) to 1.1 million tonnes (+23,2%), JSC “holding company Yakutugol (part of Mechel) – 844 thousand tons (+17,5%), JSC “Raspadskaya” (82% owned by Evraz) – 686 thousand tons (-26%).
