Peskov: Russia would welcome the participation of foreigners in privatization


Russia will be glad to see the interest of foreign investors to acquire those assets that are put up for auction, reported the President’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

MOSCOW, 4 Feb. The Kremlin would welcome the participation of foreign investors in the privatization of Russian assets, reported the President’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“We are interested in foreign investors, and we will be glad to see their interest in purchasing those assets that are submitted for auction,” — said Peskov reporters.

The economic actions of the government of the Russian Federation for the current year provides for the reinforcement of budget revenues due to the privatization of certain government assets, the list of which is not yet defined. At the meeting on 1 February the President of Russia Vladimir Putin instructed the government to finalize the list of companies that may be privatized in the future to discuss this issue once again more focused. The new owners of the assets, he said, should be in Russian jurisdiction.

The meeting of top managers of state-controlled companies and banks took part the head of “Rosneft”, “Sovcomflot”, “Aeroflot” VTB, “Bashneft”, ALROSA, Russian Railways. In addition, the head of the Ministry of economic development Alexei Ulyukayev said on Wednesday that “Bashneft”, ALROSA, Rosneft and a number of other public more than other companies ready for privatization and may be privatized in 2016.
