Police have promised to arrest Assange in the event of his going outside


The official representative of Scotland Yard, told Reuters that if Assange leaves the territory of the Embassy of Ecuador in London, he will be immediately detained by police. The interlocutor of the Agency explained this by the fact that a warrant for the arrest of Wikileaks founder for his subsequent extradition to Sweden is still in force.

Earlier Assange on Twitter, Wikileaks issued a statement in which he said that on Friday at noon ready to leave the Embassy and surrender to British police. This will happen if the UN working group on unlawful deprivation of liberty will make a negative decision on his claim.

Assange pointed out that in the case of a positive answer to the UN he expects the immediate return of the passport and the cessation of further attempts of arrest.

44-year-old Assange is hiding in the Embassy of Ecuador in London since June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden, where a warrant for his arrest on charges of rape. The journalist, having Australian citizenship, has denied the accusations.

The complaint to the UN authorities in the UK and Sweden, Assange filed in 2014. In the petition he stated that within a few years deprived of their basic rights and freedoms, including access to fresh air, sunlight and normal medical care. The document States that such deprivation Assange moves not on its own. WikiLeaks founder stressed that Ecuador has granted him political asylum, however to accept it it can only within the walls of the Embassy.

The British authorities do not agree with the interpretation of Assange. In their view, the Wikileaks founder voluntarily fled inside the Embassy of Ecuador, while by law it had to pass into the hands of justice.
