Obama proposes to levy a tax of $10 per barrel of oil to support sustainable transport

WASHINGTON, February 4. U.S. President Barack Obama next week will propose a plan to support environmentally friendly transport system, for which oil companies will be levied a tax of $10 per barrel. This is stated in a statement the White house.

It is assumed that proceeds from the tax will be used to construct high-speed Railways, the introduction of environmentally friendly modes of transport and self-driving cars. The President’s proposed plan will be implemented within the budget of the programme for 2017.
