Naryshkin was seen as a foolish proposal to abolish elections in the period of sanctions

MOSCOW, 5 February. State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin has described as foolish the proposal to cancel parliamentary and presidential elections in Russia in the period of sanctions.

Earlier media reported that a political scientist has suggested to cancel elections of the state Duma and the Russian President in a time of economic pressure from the West.

“For such a stupid decision there are no bases”, – said on Friday that Naryshkin in an interview to RT channel.

“Parliamentary elections will be held on 18 September of this year in strict accordance with the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the legislation regulating the electoral system,” he confirmed.
