Dvorkovich: the privatization of Russian assets today favorable to the state

MOSCOW, February 7. Russia at present may be advantageous to implement the privatization of state assets, while retaining control over strategically important enterprises. Such opinion on air of the program “Vesti Nedeli” with Dmitry Kiselev on the TV channel “Russia 1” stated Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.

“In any case, there comes a time when the advantages of receiving resources at a given time, the benefits associated with attracting new investors, outweigh the cons. We see that for a number of companies we can profitably convert some existing assets, while maintaining strategic control of our underlying companies, underlying companies,” he said.

In turn, the Minister of economic development of Russia Alexei Ulyukayev said that privatization would be a very good signal for business. “A signal that the state encourages fair competition, provides opportunities for private business, a serious investment. And this supports long-term sustainable economic growth,” Ulyukayev said in the program “Vesti Nedeli”.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin on 1 February held a meeting on privatization of state property. The head of state has demanded to carry out privatization in a transparent and not to sell state blocks of shares at bargain prices. The new owners of the assets, he said, should be in Russian jurisdiction.

According to the head of Minekonomrazvitiya Alexei Ulyukayev, “Bashneft”, ALROSA, Rosneft may be privatized in the first place.
