Iran and Italy are negotiating on joint production of Fiat cars


TEHRAN, 7 February. /Corr. Alexander Levchenko/. Iranian and Italian automakers Iran Khodro and Fiat are negotiating the establishment of joint production of cars in the Islamic Republic. About this stated the Chairman of the Iranian-Italian joint chamber Ahmad Puhalla.

“The deal is not yet signed, but negotiations between the two carmakers are going well” – leads Sunday the words of the head of the chamber, the Agency Mehr. “The parties have agreed that Fiat cars will be produced in Iran and some of them will be exported to the countries of the region. However, the focus will be on meeting domestic demand in Iran,” added the Iranian official.

Puhalla also explained that the production will be created through joint investment. “It was agreed that Fiat assumes responsibility for the transfer of know-how, and Iran provides enterprise workforce and energy. However, the question of the amount of investment is still under negotiation”, – continued the head of the Iranian-Italian joint chamber.

Turning to the issue of range, which is expected to take place in Iran, Pourfaraj noted that we are talking about the line from Fiat 500сс to cars of a higher class with fuel-efficient engine.
