BAGHDAD, 11 February. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin hopes that the Iraqi army will free the terrorists from the city of Mosul and other areas of the country. He stated this at a meeting in Baghdad of the Russian-Iraqi intergovernmental Commission.

“I hope that the next session on Iraq of our bilateral Commission will be held not in Baghdad, and liberated from the bandits Mosul”, – said the Deputy Chairman of the Russian government. “We would very much like to see this town as fast as possible free from these moral freaks who today are terrorizing the civilian population”, – said Rogozin.
Vice Prime Minister expressed hope that the liberation of Mosul and other areas of Iraq from terrorists will facilitate military and technical cooperation between the two countries.
Rogozin also believes that the next meeting of the intergovernmental Commission on Russian territory can be held in one of the major industrial centers in the Urals or in Siberia. “We will move from Moscow further to the East, so that our Iraqi colleagues were able to see the huge opportunities of the Russian Federation and its strong partnership spirit.
According to the Vice Prime Minister, the bilateral Commission should work on an ongoing basis and to be a “guide and protector” of the interests of business in Russia and Iraq.
The reaction of the Iraqi side
Iraq aims to complete the liberation of its territory from terrorists and appreciates the support of Russia in this matter, said in his turn the foreign Minister of Iraq Ibrahim al-Jaafari. Al-Jaafari highlighted that Baghdad aimed at boosting cooperation with Russia on various fronts. “Truly, 2014-2015 passed under the banner of our fight against terrorism and we appreciate the contribution of our friends in this fight”, – said the head of the foreign Ministry of the country.
Rogozin supported Iraq’s position on the illegality of the stay of the Turkish troops in that country
“The government of Iraq aims to complete and bring to the end of combating “Islamic state” (is prohibited in the Russian Federation terrorist group – approx.TASS), and together the Iraqi army, units of the national militia, the Peshmerga have one goal – the total elimination of the presence of (terrorists) on Iraqi soil,” continued al-Jaafari. He noticed that the makeup of terrorism is carried out “not only from the inside (Iraq) but also from the outside.”
“And we respect and appreciate Russia’s position and support its territorial integrity and independence (Iraq). Highly appreciate the assistance given by Russia in the fight against these elements,” – said the foreign Minister.
Ibrahim al-Jaafari, stressed that the USSR and Russia have made a significant contribution to strengthening the defense capability of the armed forces of Iraq. “This is especially valuable given the experience of Russia in the fight against terrorism and taking into consideration Russia, including operations in third countries,” said al-Jaafari.

The core group forming the militants, who fought with American troops during their stay in Iraq and with the forces of the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
