The participants of the support group in Syria (NGS) agreed to a ceasefire in Syria during the week. This is the results of four-hour negotiations told U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry at a joint press conference with the foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov and UN special envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura, its translation is “Russia-24”.
“We have agreed to maintain the cessation of hostilities across the country,” Kerry said. He noted that this objective is “ambitious”. Thus, according to the Secretary of state, members of the group intend to move “as quickly as possible”.
The head of the state Department stressed that the agreement will apply to all parties of the Syrian conflict, except the Islamists. So, the ceasefire will not apply to banned in Russia “Islamic state” and “dzhebhat EN-nusra” and other terrorist organizations named by the UN security Council.
According to Staffan de Mistura, to ensure sustainable ceasefire regime in Syria in such a short time is not easy.
