MOSCOW, 12 February. Strong growth of unemployment in 2015; however, this year the risks to employment is much higher. This was announced by Deputy Minister of economic development of RF Oleg Fomichev, speaking at the parliamentary hearings in the state Duma.
“We understand that this year the risks are quite high. If last year the serious increase of unemployment was not, this year, of course, the risks are higher,” he said.
Fomichev said that in 2016 it is planned to continue the implementation of regional employment programmes. “Now discussing the volume of such support,” he said.
According to Rosstat, the number of unemployed in Russia in 2015 amounted to 4,264 million (5.8% of the economically active population), which is 7.4% more than in the previous year.
According to an updated forecast of the Ministry of economic development, unemployment in Russia will rise in 2016 to 6.3%.
Experts interviewed believe that the peak of unemployment will have on the end of the year, with most staff reductions are expected in the field of tourism and services in the automotive industry and the construction industry.
