The head of the German foreign Ministry acknowledged the agreement in Minsk is far from realization

The parties involved in the settlement of crisis in Ukraine “remain far from the implementation of the Minsk agreements,” said German foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Saturday after the meeting Channel four in Munich (quoted by the Associated Press).

“I hope that all who occupy responsible positions in Kiev and Moscow, it is clear that we no longer have eternity to realize what was agreed in Minsk, — said Steinmeier. — We must not cease our efforts to push the parties to the conflict to take further steps”.

The head of the German foreign Ministry said that the next meeting of the Normandy four will be held in early March. However, he expressed the hope that the parties to the conflict will be better than now, to ensure the ceasefire and to prepare for elections in the regions in the East of Ukraine, controlled by militias.

Steinmeier also said that “the suspension of talks with each other during a crisis may not be the answer.”

In Channel four, created in June 2014 to resolve the situation in Eastern Ukraine, composed of representatives of four countries (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The meeting in Munich was attended by Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin. France was represented by the political Director of the Foreign Ministry Nicolas de Riviere.

After Sergey Lavrov said that the parties did not have enough time to conduct a “substantive conversation”. “We today, given the lack of time, unfortunately were only able to exchange assessments and substantive discussion about how to rectify the situation [in Ukraine], I hope we will have in the foreseeable few weeks,” said the head of the Russian foreign office (quoted by Interfax).

His Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin acknowledged that the discussion in Munich did not give a specific result, “It was a meeting to prepare for the next the present meeting in “Norman format” — he said. Klimkin confirmed that the next “full meeting” will be held in early March in Paris.

He said that the parties agreed to work on “modality” of holding elections on uncontrollable Kiev territories in the Donbas and agreed on the need to ensure security during the elections in the region.
